Sense of Guilt for Doing Network Marketing?

By

Knowing that 90%+ (statistically speaking) of those who start a network marketing business (or any business for that matter) is going to fail, that means 9 out of 10 people who join your MLM business is going to fail (again, statistically speaking).  Should you feel guilty about that?

More importantly, should that stop you from doing your business and allowing people to join your MLM team?  Because let’s face it, even if you are the superstar of superstars, there are still bound to be folks who came to you, who “counted on you and the business opportunity you believed  in and touted“, who are going to fall flat on their face and never get back up.  And they are probably going to blame you – wondering why you didn’t warn them, why you let them fail, why you didn’t help them.

Here’s the thing, this is life.  Life has its ups and downs; life sometimes brings you up and other times slams you into the ground.  We are operating in the business world where there are no guarantees whatsoever, within the network marketing industry and outside of it.

There will be winners and there will be losers (financially defined).  The important thing is that each person going into it realizes it and recognizes it.

Translation, DO NOT mislead anybody looking to join your team. Do not, for one minute, tell them it’s all rainbows and butterflies, that it won’t take any work and involve any hardships.  You gotta give it to them real dawg (pardon my gangsta talk)!

You have to let anybody who’s interested in your business know the hard work, dedication, AND inherent risks involved.  Be straight with them.

And even then, the odds of them succeeding are still against them.  They are very likely to fall into that 90%+ failure group. My approach...»

Should You Feel Bad About Others’ Failures?

So knowing this, should you feel bad for those who didn’t quite make it and should that stop you from providing the opportunity to others?  HECK NO!!!

This is the way I see it.  When I got into this game, all else being equal, I had less than 10% chance of making it in this industry.  I had less than 10% likelihood of achieving the dream of quitting my job and going into marketing full time.

And, along that line of thought, I had just as much of chance at FAILING as anybody, 90%+.  Now, my upline could’ve told me, “No, Ray, I want to PROTECT you, I want to SHIELD you from the possibility of you failing, so I am not going to allow you to embark on this journey.

He could’ve rejected me and told me to live the rest of my life working at my dreadful job stuck inside a cubicle for the rest of my life and stop me from even attempting to achieve my dreams.

Boy am I glad he didn’t!

See, if he never gave me the opportunity to join his MLM team and find out for myself if I had what it took, I wouldn’t be where I am today – retired from corporate for good and making my living doing marketing and guiding other entrepreneurs.

By being a network marketer and allowing folks to join your team and your opportunity, you are at least giving people a fighting chance, as slim as it may be.  Their “slim chance” is infinitely greater than “no chance”.  The odds of them succeeding if they try are infinitely times better than if they aren’t even presented the opportunity to try.

So in essence, you are not giving people only 10% chance for success, you are giving them infinitely greater chance for success.  It’s all a matter of perspective :)

I would hate to unknowingly crush the dreams of someone who has the potential to achieve their goals by joining my team because I fear that he will fail.  I want to be a hope-giver and not a dream-crusher.  This is why I continue to do what I do and feel darn good about it.

P.S. If you think you qualify to join my team, by all means give it a twirl: GPT Coffeehouse Letter :)

I actually go so far as to try and convince people to NOT join my team.  I am only interested in those who knows that this isn’t some “get-rich quick” crap they hear about on the internet.  I only want to spend time with those who are willing to work hard to achieve the success they desire.  And maybe, just maybe, at the end of the day, the success rate of those on my team will be greater than just 10%.
